DANCE CLASSES

BALLET – Intro, I and II (Ages 6 - 13)
Classical ballet, taught in the Russian Vagonova Technique with adagio stretch, allegro movements utilizing the barre, center and across the floor. Focus on building basic ballet vocabulary, proper technique, proper positions of the feet and arms, and body alignment. This class will break down the steps and provide students with exercises that build strength, increase flexibility and provide a foundation that can be applied to all dance styles. (NOTE: Please be advised that it is normal for a student to repeat the above levels before advancing to Ballet III).

Tiny Tot Dance (Ages 3 - 5)
Class will include gentle stretching and strengthening, while learning the basic movement of ballet, jazz, and tap (without tap shoes). One or two songs of creative movement and props will be used. This allows little ones to move freely while learning to feel the beat of the music. This is an introduction class designed for fun!

Hip Hop (Ages 12 - 18)
Exciting and fun choreography to contemporary rhythms. Sharp movements avoiding inappropriate body moves as used in secular circles. Although this represents the style of dance known as hip hop, Instruments of Praise will keep it God honoring.

Ballet / Lyrical
Expressing deep personal emotions of worship, praise, and adoration through natural body movements along with basic techniques of either ballet, modern, or jazz while interpreting the lyrics or story of a song.

C.O.R.E.
Character Obtained to Reflect Excellence is a component of each class. It is designed to develop and strengthen the foundational character of an artist. The C.O.R.E. curriculum is derived from biblical principles, and is not doctrinal in nature.

INSTRUMENTAL CLASSES

If you are new to music, a musician returning to your instrument, or eager to take your skills to a higher level, this is the place for you! To give the best training possible, our program consists of four parts:

Private Instruction:
One-on-one individual time with an instructor. Most programs, with the exception of the drumming program, consist Instruction: of a 30 minute private lesson in addition to the components listed below. Instrumental lessons at the Lincoln facility are 45 minutes in length in order to individually incorporate these components.

Theory:
This portion of the lesson reinforces the musical principles necessary to acquire a comprehensive knowledge of music.

C.O.R.E.
Character Obtained to Reflect Excellence is designed to develop and strengthen the foundational character of an artist. The C.O.R.E. curriculum is derived from biblical principles, and is not doctrinal in nature.

Lab:
This component provides a valuable opportunity for students to play with others in a group setting. However, unlike the traditional ensembles, Lab is centered around a rhythm section, with each student being supported as a player in the rhythm section or as a solo artist with a rhythm section accompaniment. Students begin to learn basic improvisational techniques and how to “feel” the music. All Instrumentalists are scheduled to attend at least one Music Lab per month.

Drum Central / STIXX
New to IOP is Drum Central.. Instruction includes training for (1) drumline, (2) set, and (3) percussion Students are taught the discipline of precision, along with the progressiveness of cutting edge drumming. The drum program also includes C.O.R.E., individual/group studies, and drilled rudiments that are actually fun. Click here to learn more about STIXX.

Ensembles:
Ensembles include flute choir, saxophone quartet, guitar duets, praise band, etc.

Orchestra:
The orchestra is comprised of intermediate and advanced students enrolled in the program.
