Instruments
of Praise (IOP) is a non-profit, faith-based performing
arts organization that is committed to training the next
generations of artists to serve the world. It was founded
with a call to make “life investments” into
young emerging artists through programs that strive for
excellence in two paralleling essential foundations of (1)
artistic knowledge and skill, and (2) character development.
Artistic
knowledge and skill enhances the artist’s ability
to be creative and to enjoy the pleasures of accomplishment.
However, the development of talent alone is not enough.
There are countless individuals with exceptional talents
who lack the ability to lead lives that portray the same
excellence as their gifts.

With
this in mind, Instruments of Praise purposefully incorporates
C.O.R.E. (Character Obtained to Reflect Excellence) into
all of our training and programs. C.O.R.E. is an application
of biblical principles essential for the character development
of today’s artists whether in a church or a social
setting. In doing so, the inspiration, motivation, discipline,
and passion that may come as additional benefits to young
aspiring artists as well as accomplished seasoned artists
is fully realized. Moreover, it assists artists in developing
a purpose greater than their own, sharing their talents
beyond self-imposed or life-imposed limitations and boundaries.

HISTORY
In 1990 Instruments of Praise began as a year-round instrumental
program for children. In 1994 it expanded to include the
summer Christian Performing Arts Camp, as well as beginning
private instrumental instruction at several after-school
programs. In 1995 the arts camp became a residential camp
held at Azusa Pacific University and expanded to receive
students beyond the state of California. In 2004 the Concert
of Dance was instituted as an annual event providing platforms
for as many as 120 dance artists throughout Southern California.

TODAY
Today with the opening of our first self-maintained facility,
we continue to provide quality programs that also include
(1) performance teams and classes for all ages, (2) workshops
for adults and advanced students, (3) Koinonia – artist
connection, accountability, and fellowship, and (4) Sounds
of Sunday – artist showcase.
